Dikiş ipliği için iki Tex numarası önerildiğinde, aşağıdakilere göre seçim yapılır:

  • Dikiş işleminin gerektirdikleri
  • Dikişin üzerine gelecek yük miktarı
  • Üst dikiş için gerekli dikiş netliği
  • Dikişin tel gibi destekleyici malzemelere sahip olup olmadığı

Şekillendirici/destekleyici giysileri üretirken dikiş sıklığı önerilerine uyulmalıdır. Bu giysilerde zarif bir görünüm elde edilmesi istense de dikiş mukavemetini ya da esnekliğini tehlikeye atabilecek çok ince dikiş iplikleri seçilmemelidir.

Örme iç çamaşırlarının dikilmesi sırasında iğnenin kumaşa zarar vermesini önlemek için genellikle yuvarlak uçlu iğneler önerilir.
