Coats Group plc, the world’s leading manufacturer of thread and structural components for apparel and footwear and an innovative pioneer in performance materials, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Toluca, Mexico.
The new plant will be producing high-quality performance yarns for personal protection, automotive, household, recreation and other end uses.
With its 25,000 m2 manufacturing area and 5,000 m2 offices/warehouse space, the Toluca site is Coats’ largest Performance Materials spinning and twisting factory and also at the highest altitude. The new facility is dedicated to serving Coats’ performance yarns business in North America, Latin America, and other export markets. The new plant in Toluca is part of the company’s Mexican transformation, following the commissioning of the Huamantla site in Tlaxcala, in October 2022.
The Coats Toluca site showcases superior operational efficiency, customer responsiveness and the ability to commercialise innovations. The site will have 330 employees at full capacity. This project also reflects Coats’ commitment to embracing digital advancements, fostering innovation, and prioritising sustainability.
Rajiv Sharma, Group Chief Executive at Coats Group, said: “Coats has maintained a substantial presence in Mexico for years, with key facilities in Tlaxcala, Orizaba, and Huamantla. The Toluca site will complement our strong innovative approach and sustainable growth in the performance yarns sector not only in the region but also globally.”
