The entire range of Coats’ products is now available to the industry with Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificates™ at gold, platinum and bronze levels.

Coats is part of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Products Program, sharing its commitment to the vision of a world powered by products that are safe, circular, and made to enable a healthy, equitable and sustainable future. Coats thread has gone through the most stringent assessment on chemical safety.

Nienke Steen, Global Lead of Apparel, Textiles and Footwear Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation, said:

“COATS is leading the way in the field of sustainable and safe textile component solutions. They offer great diverse kits of cellulose-based and recycled PET-based threads that have gone through a thorough Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health assessment. The new certificates are based on our latest version 4.0, requirements on material and chemical safety, which is even stricter than our previous version. The threads can be used for the optimal circular design solution. That is key when the market requires safe solutions to develop circular products”.

The Material Health Certificate validates that chemicals and materials used in the product have been selected to prioritise the protection of human health and the environment, positively impacting the quality of materials available for future use and cycling.

Adrian Elliott, CEO of the Apparel Division of Coats Group, said:

“I am incredibly proud of Coats’ achievement in obtaining Cradle to Cradle Certified Material Health Certificates™ for our sustainable sewing thread solutions. This highlights our commitment to safe, circular, and sustainable products. We are committed to leading towards a sustainable future with dedication and innovation by producing products that are safe both chemically and environmentally”.
