Coats Gral AWF has a specially formulated finish that delivers a high degree of water resistance to seams on outdoor wear and rainwear. Its PFC-free, anti-wick finish is kinder to the environment and helps prevent water from being taken up by the thread.

  • Gral AWF is a 100% polyester continuous filament
  • Its high breaking strength and optimum stretch characteristicsproduce smooth and attractive seams on leather footwear
  • The PFC-free anti-wick finish inhibits the capillary effect, therebyensuring that no water is taken up by the thread
  • When the correct sewing tension is used, the transport of waterthrough the needle hole is prevented

Our sewing threads meet the production needs of men’s coats, delivering neat and discreet as well as bold and pronounced. The final thread choice will be determined by the fabric weight, the construction of the load bearing seams and the stitch definition required (topstitching). Sometimes, Gramax Tex 18 is used on the overlock loopers to reduce the overall thread cost in the garments. Approximate thread consumption is 610 metres for men’s overcoats and 200 metres for men’s jackets. Depending on the required final quality, other thread types may be used. Thread size will determine needle size. For more information, check out our recommendations below.
