T-shirts

Softness, strength, and stretch gives your T-shirts the seam quality it needs. Our comprehensive range of high quality sewing t-shirts thread is designed to improve seam quality and enhance machine performance.
Stitch type 406 and Gramax tex 18 are recommended when attaching binding to the neck and arm openings and sleeves of t-shirts because they provide good seam covering properties and comfort next to skin. Epic tex 24 or 30 can be used in certain circumstances.

Approximate thread consumption is 45 metres. Alternative thread types may be used depending on required final quality. The thread size will determine the choice of needle size.

The sewing thread recommendations laid out below are intended as a guide to aid the construction of garments with good quality seams. As garments of the same generic type differ in terms of fabric substrate and construction, and both making up methods and post make up processing can greatly vary, these recommendations should be viewed as a good starting point for thread selection.

Where two Tex sizes of thread have been suggested the choice will be determined by the demands of the stitching operation, the amount of load / demand placed on the seam and the type and weight of fabric being sewn.
